NEW TAKE ON AUSSIE BATTLER IMAGE?
Linda Wood, is releasing her debut album DUEL with a
launch concert at Bar Me on September 29.
The album “Duel” is a humorous and poignant expression
of the artistic struggle,
of the gender war for romantic conquest,
of internal conflict,
of the push of what is and the pull of what could be,
of the contest between truth and paradigm.
“As a debut album, I feel it reflects who I am very well in that it expresses a real mixture of femininity, vulnerability and also an ambitious fighting spirit,” Linda says of “Duel”.
Showcasing Linda’s distinctive voice and musical style “Duel” fuses pop, theatre and jazz styles with catchy riffs and unusual lyrics.

ARTIST BIO
ABOUT LINDA WOOD
You can be sure that Linda is no rock chick wearing black in a dark alley taking herself far too seriously!
At times compared with Tori Amos, Stevie Nicks and Rickie Lee Jones, Linda's ability to engage and amuse audiences with her songs and stories of emotion and epiphany along with her contemporary cabaret style performance have delighted audiences. Iain McGuire, Artistic Director of Mad Cow Theatre Company (Gosford) says that Linda is "silk to the eyes, ears and throat… the audience love her as she is warm, friendly and vocally wholesome …. A complete package."
ARTIST HISTORY
With debut album "Duel" on the verge of release Linda has been chipping away at the live performance block. In the last few years Linda has been testing her original material in front of Sydney and Central Coast audiences as well as moonlighting with a group called "The Bettys", performing covers for parties and corporate functions. As part of the "Santa Bettys", a Christmas incarnation of the group, Linda has performed on ABC state-wide radio singing an inventive accapella rendition of Ray Charles' arrangement of Jingle Bells for Scott Levi on the Central Coast of NSW.
Linda Wood has also lent her musical and theatrical talents in recent years to "Leader of the Pack" (Central Coast production), "Downtown" (a musical tribute to the 60s pop scene in Britain) "Straight Up Rogue" (a jazz revue) and "Back to the 80s".
In September 2006 Linda worked in New York directing the vocals for "Angels"(see www.angelsthemusical.com or www.myspace.com/angelsthemusical), a new production staged at the Duke Theatre on 42nd Street (Time Square). Linda played a supporting character role for the recording of this production in Sydney (July 2006) as well as writing most of the vocal arrangements and conducting the studio ensemble.
